Dear Member,
Here is your update to December 2008 along with your 2009 membership renewal.
New Range Facility -
Project management & engineering by “Maple Reinders” is at an advanced stage with drawings updated for the 25m. range selected by you, the membership, at the July special meeting.
Your Building Committee has been working closely with Maple Reinders in the selection of specialty engineering companies who have provided expert input for acoustical, airflow, fire safety, parking, and range design, all recommendations have been incorporated in the revised drawings.
Backstop and target retrieval systems, firing line, and lounge/office areas have also been reviewed so the final tender documents should be ready to be sent out to trades for bids shortly. We hope to have a complete package with final pricing etc. ready for your approval at the coming AGM.
There is still much to be done, with construction scheduled to start early in the new year when financing should also be hopefully finalized.
Lawsuit -
The lawsuit is still on hold pending our environmental and wetlands experts producing a viable solution to the issues. The complainant has been very patient and cooperative in trying to resolve the situation, we are all awaiting the expert’s reports!
Important Notices -
From Permit Coordinator
A.T.T. Permit Renewals July 30th, 2009 – Please note that all of the authorisation to carry permits held by Peel Handgun Club members will expire on July 30th, 2009. Paid up members who hold a valid firearms licence and A.T.T. do not have to apply to the club for renewal.
The club will forward a list to the Chief Firearms Office by the end of May 2009, and your renewed A.T.T.’s should be received by the club and mailed to each member prior to the expiry date. The permits will be valid for a 3-year term.
Once again, if your firearm licence expires during this term your A.T.T. becomes invalid. The club should then be notified by the member with the new information so that a new A.T.T. can be issued by the CFO.
Training Volunteers Urgently Needed.
With the expected number of new or transfer members to this club we will need numerous handgun safety trainers, also most of us would welcome a short refresher course before we fire that much anticipated first shot at the new range! For those members wishing to help out we ask that you
have, or acquire, CSSA basic club trainer status, we will arrange for CSSA classes for the interested parties.
It is our intention to invite all disciplines that can be safely accommodated in a 25m range. Advanced discipline experts are invited to contact the training coordinator for consultation....We need your help!
If you are, or know of accredited instructors in I.S.S.F., N.R.A., I.P.S.C. or I.D.P.A. Please call.

(Our apologies as the above email address was incorrect on the version that was mailed to all current members)
Recap - For those members who did not attend the “Special Meeting” in July 2008 called for the purpose of seeking membership input into choice of a 50m range or a 25m range the members in attendance voted overwhelmingly for the 25m option, even though most of the Board of Directors recommended the 50m option. Following the meetings mandate, Maple Reinders were instructed to complete design and engineering for the 25m range. Please see Project Managers report on the following page.
A renewal form is included for your 2009 membership, we hope you will continue your support for your new range project. Also we would once again request volunteers, with time available to help in the various activities and committees, to come forward and contact your Board members.
Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday and all the best for the New Year.
For P.C.G.& F.P.A.
The Board of Directors
